He groaned as she scratched his ears.
You're right, I envy pet dogs. Someone takes care of them, pets them... and all they ever have to do in return is look cute and give people a lick once in awhile. So saying he rolled onto his side, leaning half of him against the wall behind them and exposed his belly with a hopeful grin on his face.
So what's the back story to the people here? Everyone seems to have some sort of intricate past. And how come they want to squirrel you away?

She giggled, rubbing his belly, shaking her head, "Sorry to say, but I think you could adapt to it very easily," She then sighed, "Everyone here came here either to escape their past, or someone. They keep running so they keep they city like everyone's past. And to them, it is... unnatural for me to live here. Shadow is supossed to be the only one here--which also makes this city unique. That and, my family are still out there somewhere. My pack," She looked through the window hipefully, 'i just know they're out there. Looking for me."

He gave her a nuzzle with his nose when her hand paused as she mused looking out the window.
Is there a way for you to tell them where you are? Can you not search them out? To him the idea of having a pack and not being with them would be unbearable. He already missed Pollynda's sharp sarcasm and quick retorts. I'm sorry, I'm prying too much He moved as if to stand, thinking he would go back and lie in the moonlight.

Her fingers insticntively curled into his fur, "No, no, its fine. I don't know if I can contact them," She sat back against the wall, her hands in her lap, "I just hope they're still out there... I was stolen away by the slave dealer when I was four... I've been here ever since--thanks to Arsen. I was a present for Saiya at first, but, she wouldn't accept. She told him that he didn't need to get her gives to show how he felt toward her. he brought me back here. Jagger told Arsen and Clant to make sure I couldn't turn into a wolf," She sighed, "So, I really have no-clue what I'd look like. Probably small and dull."

Justin settled back down, taking a moment to process what she had just said. A slave market? Here? Well, at least he was too old to be sold, at least, he hoped so. Rather than broach that topic, he circled round to their earlier subject.
Why didn't Arsen marry the queen? It sounds as if they were hot and heavy. His ears pricked as he heard raised voices at the bottom of the stairs, his ruff rising in accordance with his adrenaline. A growl rumbled in his throat and his ears rotated from flat against his head to forward to catch the sound. In moments the voices faded away and he was able to relax again.
This place makes me tense, everyone seems to be on edge and not notice they are. Everyone is fighting for dominance. The hierarchy just isn't well defined.

"Master Arsen was a fraid that if he did marry Saiya that this would happen. He was worried he'd wake up one day and forget all of this," She sighed, "And, he didn't hink he was ready for it. Master Arsen has always been... hard to try to cooperate with. I heard that he wouldn't even talk to Jagger at first, only snarl. I can understand(O.o Brain shut down there...) why. When Saiya was human, Jagger didn't want her at all. Then, Arsen came and thats who she devoted all her attention to. Jagger didn't like that. He pulled her aside one night--and nearly killed her. She reatreated to Arsen's room. Arsen made her a vampire that night. They can't bear to be without each other--Thats why Jagger had her work in the castle. She was too much of a distraction to Arsen. Within the next few months, the king married her. Arsen had no option but to attened. he left halfway through the ceremony."

OOC: I've decided to compose a really long response... whether it turns out this way has yet to be seen.
BIC:
Justin mentally winced on behalf of Arsen. Poor bastard. It was no wonder that everyone here was treading on eggshells around him, that alone would be enough to drive someone mad; let alone a vampire already grappling with the edge of reason.
He closed his eyes in thought, his mind wandering as he rested. He could hear the hustle and bustle of the staff in the halls below them, catch the soft giggle of a woman in the courtyard below, the low, knowing, chuckle of a man. He heard the leaves rustling as the wind brushed through them like fingers through hair.
It felt nice to just rest somewhere, not worrying about people finding out what he was, or having to hide the form he was, sadly, more comfortable in. Since Jédsyme's death, he'd despised people, and to him, wolves were more appealing than humans. They lacked the pity and remorse of humans, carrying on rather than dwelling in the past. When a wolf's mate died, yes they felt a sadness, fore they did love their partners, but the necessity of survival overrode the urge to sit and mope about what could have been, or what was, like humans did.
A wolf continued on, raised his head higher and tried to not let it happen again. there was always the pack to think about, the next hunt, or the coming season. They kept the memory, but they didn't let it stop their life.
Before he knew it the world had faded into a fuzzy warmth, his eyes closed, and ears flicking lazily. Sleep was a welcome distraction.
Too bad he couldn't tell when his form began to change, the fur receding in a dark mist, his limbs once again bare on the stone floor.
The cold woke him, although a blush quickly began to spread across his skin, warming him a little.
OOC: Well.... it feels long to me.

Fay fell asleep as soon as he had. And, if one didn't know better, they'd think she was dead.
Her chopped, short blond hair veiled her face as it pressed against her shoulder--minimal wounds slightly visible--her legs curled close to her hips.
And even in her sleep, she seemed as destressed and innocent as always. Her brow furrowed as she thought, giving a small whine. A few words were barely heard that she muttered: Mom... Dad... Family...Run.
All in all, it didn't make any sense. She whinned again, suddenly slipping sideways away from the wall--not waking as she landed on the floor. OOC: Arggh! Stupid computer. I typed alot then it closed the page! -_-

Justin woke when he felt Fey slip away. His eyes were wide and the blush spread quickly across his skin. Carefully he stood up, trying not to wake her. The words she spoke in her sleep made him frown, and after he had pulled on his boxers and jeans he returned to her side and scooped her up.
He carried her across the room, her head resting against his bare chest. He eyes looked her over as he walked, frowning further as he noted the marks on her skin. Her short hair was disorderly, making him smile just a little bit, then frown again as he saw more wounds. When he lay her down gently on the chaise he had lain on earlier, draping his jacket over her shoulders, and folding his shirt beneath her head, he kneeled on the floor beside her. He knelt there for awhile, resting his head on his folded arm. His eyes closed and he listened again to the sounds of the city.

Gwen continued snooping around. She was there purely for curiosity. She had decided, upon overhearing Clant, to investigate this Arsen character. She had always had a fascination for ancients.
And this treaty had peaked her interest. It sounded, well it was hard to describe. For all this discussion about "discussions" none had actually taken place; just fights. the more she got to know about this treaty the better; the more information she could pass along, the more plans she and Reg could devise.
Without her ex she had so little entertainment lately. She had to admit, Braen, the over-controlling son-of-a-bitch he was, had known how to find a good time.

She blinked sleepily, yawning.
"Oh... You didn't leave?" She curiously muttered, blinking up at Justin, "Did you decide to stay or...?"

Justin smiled gently at her.
"I think if I stepped out that door I might get my ass handed to me by any of the innumerable people I might cross. No one is in a good mood." All he'd heard for the last twenty minutes had been arguing and fights. "It's safer in here with you." He brushed the hair out of her eyes before he stood up and stretched.

She smiled at him, her body resisting shaking in the equivalent of a wag of a tail.
"You're probably right," She muttered, pulling his jacket up over her face so that only her eyes were visible over the hem, "I think they're in distress over Arsen and all. I think this is the first time this has happened and he's been loose in the city. Before, he was contained within his owners house but now..."

He was about to agree with her when a sound in the hall caught his attention. His entire body straightened, his head cocking to the side. He tried to brush it off.
"Arsen had an owner?" The sounds in the hall intensified, deciphering themselves into the sound of footsteps tromping up the stairs.
"Who's in there? By order of the king, I command you to come out!" A solid bang on the door followed.
"Shit." He looked form the door to the window.

"You there. Why are you here?"
Fey leaned against he wall, "I'm Arsen's maid... I-I'm waiting here for him."
The gaurd laughed, "Arsen? Arsen's gone missing."
"Hey... wasn't there someone else in here?" His parnter asked. Fey blinked.
"N-No, just me."
"Oh really? How's a wolf scent in here?"
"Uhm... I'm Arsen's maid," She repeated. "Arsen bought me. Ask him."
"What are you talking about?"

Justin wavered a moment on the other side of the wall, listening to the voices on the other side, before slowly moving away. He pulled his shirt on over his head as he went, feeling just a little bit like a teenager again.
The floor beneath his feet was old worn stone, cracked here and there from age. The tunnel was level, but after a few moments he found himself at the top of a stairwell. His eyes enabled him to see easier, but the darkness was deep. Carefully he began heading downwards. The steps seemed to go on forever, encasing him in a stone tomb. His ears heard nothing but the reflection of his own steps reverberating around him.
He didn't like blindly heading into situations he knew nothing about; and this was a prime example of one of those times.
He just hoped that he didn't end up in the guard's quarters.

"How Jagger doing?" Shadow tirefully stepped into the room. JAgger was laying on his bed, eyes closed and breathing lightly.
"He's alive," Clant muttered from the side of the bed, "But barefly. What going on out there?"
"Jirou went to the castle. He ordered the gaurds to get Arsen--dead or alive."
"He can't do that!"
"He's the King. He can do what he wants."
"But, Saiya...!"
"He wont tell her. Not before their child is ready to live without her."
"For three years then?"
"Two," Shadow corrected, "Two years." He ran a hand over his face, "We have to find him."
"How can we do that?"
"Where would he go?"
"To Saiya."

It felt like the tunnel went on forever. It hadn't been used for months at least; long enough for the spiders to spin their webs and weave their communities. He'd gone down and down until finally the floor had leveled out again and it had merely been a twisty tunnel he'd been trapped in. No doors, no windows. The very air tasted stale, like stone, dry and gritty.
One foot in front of the other.
He didn't even know how long he'd been down here now. It logically couldn't have been that long, it just felt long due to the lack of moonlight. Although, he could believe that it may be daylight outside. But not here. Here it was eternal night.
After what he estimated to be another fifteen or so minutes he finally hit a door. The hinges were olf and rusty, nearly sealed shut, but with a bit of encouragement they gave beneath his pressure, opening into another tunnel. This tunnel was obviously more frequently used, the floors swept and the cobwebs dusted away. There was even an unlit torch residing in a wall bracket on wither side of the door.
He took his chances and went right, which if his sense of direction was correct, would take him deeper into the castle. At the end of this tunnel another door stood in his way, this one well maintained and oiled. The hinges did not even murmur at his intrusion.
Once he brushed a tapestry out of his way, he found himself standing in an elegant bedchamber. The floor was covered in plush carpets, the walls covered in ancient tapestries, keeping out the chill prevalent everywhere else. Before him s a grand oaken four-poster bed took up the better part of a wall across the room, sheer draperies hung on it, shielding whatever may occupy it. A vanity stood to his left and an adjoining dressing room was to his right. The room smelled of powders, perfumes, and vampires.
When a shape stirred behind the bed curtains, he took a step back against the wall.

"Whose there?" A gruff voice asked. A hand reached out, brushing the veil away--and for a moment a red eye could be seen.
The veil was ripped down, the tattered and frayed edges hanging on the canopy still. Arsen was sitting in the mess of sheets, blood coloring the white blankets. There was a body next to him, but too multilated to figure out who it once was.
"Get out of here," He growled weakly--his body taking the toll for his actions, "Leave me alone."

Justin slowly moved further into the room.
"Arsen, what have you done?" His eyes saw the carnage in front of him and rather than revulsion, he felt merely a calculated calm. "This will not help." He could smell the blood, thick and metallic. The red was fading from the deep blossom of fresh blood to a pale stain on the counterpane. "Would you like me to call some aid? Fey perhaps? Get this cleaned up?" Get you cleaned up?
He gestured to the mess. "What would Saiya think of the mess you've made?" It was a shot in the dark, but he could hope to get through.

Arsen dropped his head, "I...I didn't mean too... She came out of nowhere and startled me... I didn't mean it..."
He shakily stood, crawling away from the mess. He stumbled lightly, blood dripping from his hands and hair. His one good eye looked miserably up at Justin, "I... I didn't mean it," He repeated softly, "S-She came out of nowhere. It was instinct...."
He shook his head, his lip curling back, "She was in the way."

Justin had no idea who "she" had been, but she was certainly no more. He would inquire later, when Arsen was a little more calm. She smelled of nothing special, just human blood.
"With our lives, accidents happen. Let's get you cleaned up for Saiya." He stripped off his shirt less it get bloodied, and folded it and his jacket over the back of the vanity chair, and then offered his hand to Arsen. "I hope to hell this place has indoor plumbing." As he waited for Arsen to join him he looked around for a bathing chamber. Through the dressing room looked promising.

He shook his head and took a step back, stumbling back over then bed. He closed his one good eye, coughing harshly, "We can't stay near here."

Justin quirked a brow at him. "And where exactly else are we supposed to go?" He gestured around him, trying to encompass the entire city in one sweep of his arm. "I can try to get you out of the city, take you somewhere else, but is that really what you want? Could you do that?" He watched as Arsen spat up more blood.
"Besides, you're in no shape to go anywhere or do anything other than rest. Instead, lets play it by ear, keep you here and get you better before we make any more plans." He thought for a moment. "There must be someway for you to contact Fey if she's your servant. Have her bring supplies and we'll hide out here until you're able to bloody well stand on your own two feet. CHrist, get ahold of yourself. You're supposed to be an all powerful vampire -- don't let some waif of a girl cause your downfall."

he shook himslef, blood splattering the floor, "You can get Feyverent. As you said, I'm in no condition to go anywhere. I wouldn't know how to get her. You're a wolf right? Wouldn't it be easier for a wolf to go to another wolf's call?"

Justin looked at him then away.
"Maybe." He wasn't sure what to do really... to change, if he could, and howl to her would be a little obvious. Instead he thought about the connection he an Pollynda had -- she was the only other creature in the world he considered his pack. When he needed her he called to her through the black marble halls of his plane. Maybe that was how he could call to Fey as well.
Within moments of thinking it, he was engulfed in the swirling mists of his transition, his mind leading while his body was probably left behind. The middleverse had grown cold in his absence, the black marble swirls on the paths covered in a layer of dust from disuse. He tried not to think to hard about what his mind was telling him if his ow sanctuary was coated in dust.
Rather, he concentrated on the task at hand. The veil closed around him as he shut his eyes, and he carefully pictured Fey. The unmanageable blond bob, the pert nose and small mouth.
The golden wolf hidden within the depths of her eyes, coat glistening and soft; downy like pups.
Fey. We need you. Here. Come to me here. He pictured the room they were in, covering as much detail as he had noted. His mind reached out, and although he thought he felt something, he could not be sure it was her.
