Hey guys I just starte dreading the twilight series and I was wondering what you guys thought of it. So far I like the clicheness more than I thought I would, though I do find Bella a little too much of a paranoid, almost bi-polar character in the way she's able to change her moods so quickly.

i really didn't notice THAT part of Bella, but what i did notice was that the characters in the book are not realistic. i mean, first of all the book is about teens, and there is little to no mention about SEX, DRUGS, or ALCOHOL. and yes, i am aware that some teens do not partake in these activities, but i think it is safe to say that most at least think about them. and also, most have friends or know ppl that do those things. also how she seems willing to put up with w/e her mother throws at her... i guess what im trying to say here is that Bellas' character is a bit too mature, a bit too sophisticated. for me that was just a bit unbelievable.
i do however like the book (i have bought the first three of them). however, if Edward has still not turned Bella by the fourth book, i may get impatient. but it is a cute book, and i think that Stephanie Meyer (the author) has a well read and coherent style of writing, and excellent use of language. save for that i think she needs to consider her subject matter a bit more indepth, i would reccommend this book.

You really want to know?
To me.. Its a bunch of Crap. I liked the series, Yeah, It was okay. For the genre it was fine. but by the second book, I got bored. All the 'Lion and the Lamb' Drove me crazy. It made me want to burn the book. I have never been the Gushy moosh person. I have to have a book with death and blood. Something with fights and danger. Same with my video games.. But, Twilight bored me to be honest and the only thing that stopped me from burning the book was the fact that it wasn't mine but my friends. I like how stephanie put the 1st person view. Its rather good. But since I have heard of the Supposed 5th book, in Edward's Point of view......
I can't do it. I give on that. Its really close to the same thing, only from Edward's view. The movie although, was a little upsetting.. and the next I know will be. I fear the Fourth.
Anyway, my opinion, Don't hate me!!!!

it's true, the book did lack violence and gore (particularly for one that had vampires and such). but the thing about twilight is that it wasn't written to be a horror novel, or even really a vampire book. It's a teen romance. how, may i ask, did you find the movie to be upsetting?

I didn't much care for the Twilight series either. Parts of it greatly disturbed me when I thought about 12 yr olds reading it. I think its a negative influence for teen girls.

I have not read the books, and it took me 4 tries to watch the movie - in the end I fast forwarded through half of it. HOWEVER I have had Fiction update me on this phenomena as she read them -- and I can't say I'm interested. The "lion and the lamb" has been done to undeath and beyond, and a love triangle with a vampire, werewolf and human was done back in the '90s.
And sparkles, why?
This type of romance is available wide spread, and for MUCH cheaper, in the adult romance section. And by the sounds of it, its more entertaining. mmmm.. Zarek... ANYWAY these books are certainly NOT on my "to read" list.

was zarek the guy whom the goddess(or w/e she was) was sent to judge? living on the tundra or something? always wore tight leather pants, wrongfully accused of killing a village, and before that, raping the woman who owned him? she's blind and has a talking magic dog and they have sex in a dream and fall in love? ...sparkles? yes, romances are a dime a dozen, sometimes literally the twilight series is aimed toward teens though. in adult romances there's actual sex. in twilight series for the first 3 books at least there was no sex bella tried to seduce edward cullen but he refused until marriage. mr. goody-2-shoes lol haha! oh wait now i get why it's more entertaining...!

Dolor, i actually laughed out loud at "haha! oh wait now i get why it's more entertaining." The series was called "Dark-hunter series". They used to be ok, but now there are like 100 of them and the world has nearly come to an end like 35 times and its getting confusing to remember who's gonna die if someone else dies. Gah, if anyone starts reading it, stop after like the 8th book. (But read Acheron because the second half of the book has Nick ) I would be a little concerned if there had actually been described sex in the fourth book of Twilight. As it is, im disturbed at how pivotal Bella makes sex seem to furthering their relationship.

ah! clever bird you are indeed! wow i completely agree with you on that point. maybe its supposed to be her way to seal the deal. seeing as how he wont turn her. maybe it's plan B.
i wouldnt mind reading the first couple in the series.
so im just gonna go out on a limb here: was it the sex that threw you off about the fourth book?

hahahahaha! well im sure that if the pillows had legs they would all run away then.
if im watching a movie or something i am extremely awkward through sex scenes, especially if there are other people around. its actually pretty funny. i get laughed at because of it. even if im reading a book and something sexual comes up, my body gets really tense and uncomfortable without me meaning to.
it is very humourous. i have not yet read the fourth, but one of these days i mean to get around to, for the purpose of finishing what ive started at the very least.

I know, but it still creeps me out, scenes like that get me the same way. Tense and uncomfortable. Like chords are wrapped around me and tightening my body trying to choke the life from me.. I read one book, and threw it across the room cuz of the feeling.. *shudders* Horrible.

hahaha. the idea of vampire sex being necrophilia really doesn't bother me much. their bodies are not rotting away, they are still animated and beautiful . they talk and have emotions, their like humans but more evolved and oftenportrayed as irresistible. i do not see this as necrophilia. hm. well mischa, i do not feel upset or as if i'm being strangled. i feel like hank hill, i produce an old man shuddering sound and feel embarassed. when i'm done being sweaty and uncomfortable, it's actually really funny! the only sexual stuff that absolutely bothers me is rape. (please do not go there, please...?) agh! but ya, sex is still a joke.

I stay away from the Rape part, believe me, I will...
but it does feel like I'm being strangled..
As for the Necrophilia... Creepy enough, But Dolor's right, their not really... Dead, They are Undead.. lol.
Still creepy though.. I believe last time I checked, Vampire suduces human.. not the other way around....

... dead is unbelievably icky, but UNdead is just... I mean, they don't breath, their cells are dead, they are dead - their soul may be alive, but their body is dead.

Guess I was wrong.. Apparntly Vampires can feel. I always thought that undead only felt hate.. lol.

well the thing about vampires is that everyone is entitled to their own interpretation. the 3 main ones are: 1. drinks blood 2. burnt by sunlight (a couple don't follow this one, including twilight and kelly armstrong stuff) 3. super strength/powers
but i dont classify them quite as dead, they move, some of them have beating hearts, some of them breathe out of physical habit. they can think, are often emotional. and if they can heal, their cells must be able to regenerate.
i suppose they are dead but at the same time not really dead, although they've died. hence the term "undead". but no, i do not find the thought of them having intercourse to be different than inter-living-human intercourse.
