Dark watched as the couple came closer and closer, like a fly to a spiders web. Suddenly he sensed a stir from the other side and turned just as Pollynda dropped someone onto him. Not ready for the suddenly drop of weight, Dark grunted and threw a threatening glance at Pollynda. She was already going to attend to the couple he realized though, and looked down at the man who had so quaintly been dumped onto him. The man wreaked. Dark did not know what exactly the man had been eating or living in, but his nose wrinkled in disdain. Dark ignored the man for the moment and continued to stare at the pureness of the couple. His eyes widened and seemed to glow from an inner depth, but he quickly looked away as the couple ran off. Looking down again at the man, Dark opened his jaws and extended his fangs. The closer to the man he got, the closer he came to vomiting. Closing his jaws with a snap, he cursed. He needed to do this. He was starving. Why did she have to give me this man? he wondered to himself. Breathing in sharply and holding his breath, Dark tried not to think of the odor rising from man and thought of how the sweet blood beneath that mortal's skin would taste; untainted by the wretchedness of his filth. Keeping this in mind, he closed his eyes, imagined some other human and bit down. The flesh broke instantaneous and Dark's mouth was soon filled with the pureness of the man's life; the man's blood.

Pollynda stood there and watched the couple hurry off. It wasn’t all that long ago that she and Wink used to take extremely late night walks through the same park. The memories made her want to go after them and kill them just to make herself feel better. She would have, but she heard the soft sounds of Dark feeding and decided the cute couple couldn’t get that far from her if she stayed just a while longer.
Turning around she returned to where Dark was feeding from the homeless man. She stood silent, transfixed by the site of another vampire feeding. She could feel the desire for blood rise within herself.
She watched; waiting for Dark to be done so she could make sure he would be alright to make it back home alone before the sun rose.
If he was, she would find that mortal couple and have some fun before she went to sleep. In her mind she smiled with anticipation.

Dark felt the disgusting body go limp in his arms and he could tell that he had drank all that he could from the man. Sitting there as he stared numbly at the body, he again was encroached with the feeling that usually came from draining the life from a mortal; remorse and hate of what he truly was. Inside of himself he let out a howl of mourning, but with Pollynda hanging about, he would never let that howl escape his blood covered lips. Licking his lips with a fluid motion, he felt his stomach lurched, but he managed to keep the blood down. He felt better he found, but snarled with the fact that it was because of the blood. Looking up, he saw Pollynda nearby. He wanted to thank her, but knew not how to do it. As he looked down again, he realized with a sickening feeling that the corpse still lied upon his lap. Tossing it to the ground and trying to ignore the sound that it made when it collided, Dark stood up slowly. The world around him still spun, but not as quickly and did not make him feel as sick. Watching out for the corpse, Dark took a step toward Pollynda.

Dark seemed to be a lot healthier to Pollynda. She crossed her fingers and asked her question. “Dude, are you gonna be ok to get home before sunrise?”
She hoped that he said yes. Then she could have some real fun.

Dark looked around himself and wondered what she meant when she had said before dawn. It was awhile before that happened, or so he thought. Since he had been unconscious though, he didn't think that he should question anything at the moment. Wondering what had happened to the couple he had seen earlier, he shrugged to Pollynda. "I suppose I am." Dark did not add in that he would rather she walked with him, but she looked anxious to go somewhere and he did not want to be the one to spoil her fun. "I'll see you at the club sometime I guess then," Dark said with a dark smirk. With that he turned and slowly walked away from Pollynda; trying to keep the man's dead face from haunting his mind.

Justin stalked silently behind the two, politely keeping to the shadows beneath some trees, blending in so even they would have difficulty seeing him. He saw the way Pollynda watched the sweet young couple hungrily, how her eyes sparked with mischief. He could not suppress a growl that flooded up his throat and overflowed out his mouth. He muffled it with a handful of popcorn. He finished off the bag and pitched it in a nearby garbage. It made a slight sound as it softly thudded against the metal side of the barrel. The young man who walked dwith his arm loosly around the girl's waistglanced quickly over his shoulder, but could see nothing. Justin knew that profile. "Gerry." He said it as he stepped deliberately slow from the shadows. Gerry's head cocked to the side, but then a slow smile spread across his face. "Justin, long time no contact." He chuckled and squeezed his girl, an automatic sign of possesion. "This is Aileen Riley." Aileen held out her hand delicately. Justin quickly looked to Gerry's face, then to Aileen's hand. He saw it waver and looked up to just catch a glimpse of uncertainty before he grasped it gently and shook it. "Hello Aileen." He smiled carefully, glad that since he was not full vampire his fangs weren't present all the time like some. Gerry turned his attention to Aileen for a moment. "Hun, this is the guy i told you about, remember? The one I used to work with, a real genius with numbers." Justin grinned a little. "I'm only a genius compared to you, Ger." Gerry grinned back. "So what's new with you? Haven't seen you in.. what? A year? Last time we met you were in the A&P at 4am buying steaks and lamb chops." He laughed and Aileen joined him hestitantly. Justin nodded and smiled. "What can I say? Night creature cravings." Gerry laughed again, but stopped abruptly, his gaze looking over Jusitn's shoulder. Justin glanced over his shoulder nad caught Pollynda's scowl. He gestured to her. "A friend." He turned fully and held out a hand to her. "Pollynda, come meet some people. I'm pretty sure they're patrons of your club."

After Dark said he would be ok to walk home Pollynda waited a moment and then took off at a brisk walking pace. She followed the park’s path to locate the couple she had sent off. They were only a short distance away. Her vivid imagination blinding her to everything expect the fun to be had tormenting the humans, Pollynda didn’t hear or see anything as she walked on.
When she came around the corner of a tall hedge along the path, she stopped in her tracks. Standing in the pathway was Justin and the couple. Pollynda made a face that showed her dislike at the situation.
She got a little confused when Justin gestured her way and introduced her as “a friend.” Whose friend was he talking about? It seemed like every time she tried to have a civil conversation with the mutt he snapped. Hell, just a few days ago at the club she kneed him in the groin and suggested he get the pickle out of his ass.
Playing along, she put on a small smile and came to Justin’s side; her boots crunching on the gavel pathway.
Pollynda placed her hand on Justin’s shoulder and stood on the tip of her boots until her mouth was even with his ear. She spoke, lower than a whisper, her lips barely moving, “the sole purpose for you immortality is to swart all my fun. Isn’t it?”
Dropping down to stand properly, the teenage-looking vampire faced the slightly frightened couple. She remembered that she had just moments ago threatened their lives, and now Justin was introducing her as a friend. She couldn’t stop the smile on her face from reaching her eyes and becoming genuine. The scenario was humorous.
With faux enthusiasm she rushed out “So, you go to Fray often?”

Justin Took a small step back as Pollynda and Gerry fell into conversation about the highs an lows of owning a club. Aileen was avidly watching Pollynda, her eyes speculating for any female threat she may pose. Justin chuckled abnd silently slipped away. He'd had enough socializing for one night. The darkness embraced him as he strode to his truck. Maybe he'd go home and have a drink...

Talking with the couple wasn’t all that interesting, but they were talking about things that had to do with Pollynda so she was content to continue. Pollynda seemed to be the only one to notice when Justin walked off. That was fine. As she continued chatting mostly with Gerry, images of what she would do to the couple flittered through her mind. It was too close to dawn to have her fun…but tomorrow, tomorrow was another day. After a few more minutes of chatter, Pollynda, in a tone that implied she hated to break away, said “I’m sorry, but I really gotta get a move on.” She searched the many pockets of her leather coat, at last finding what she sought. A small pure white business card with the words “Into the FRAY” printed in the center with crimson ink. Pollynda twirled it between her index and middle fingers before handing it to Gerry. “Stop by this evening. Just bypass the line, flash the card at whoever’s at the door, and have a wonderful evening.” She smiled, trying to sooth any concerns they might have had, trying to ensure that they came to the club. She turned around and headed back the way she had came, her boots crunching on the gravel again. When she rounded the corner of the hedge she ran with supernatural speed to her loft downtown. When she arrived the sun was neally over the horizon and the vampire only had a few minutes until she would be forced into her coffin (that acted as a coffee table in the center of the living room). She called Ardent while climbing into the crimson satin lined coffin that protected her from the sun. The phone rang five times before Ardent picked up, her voice groggy with sleep. “’Ello?” “Ardent, if you were planning on it, don’t come to the club tonight.” “Alright. –Oh! I have a favor to ask.” Pollynda could feel the sun rising higher into the sky. She settled herself in her coffin, and slide closed the lid halfway so that only her upper body was visible. She had one of those old style coffins that cost nearly an arm and a leg—the kind where the lid slid over the top instead of closing on hinges. “What is it?” Ardent was hesitant about asking. She was starting to seriously believe it to be a bad idea. “Can I have my birthday party at Fray?” Pollynda laughed at the nervousness of her friend. “Sure you can. I’ll close the doors for a few hours, and you can have the place all to yourself.” Ardent sighed with relief and thanked Pollynda. They hung up after exchanging wishes for pleasant dreams. Waking early, Pollynda took her time getting ready to go to her club. She decided on wearing a full black satin skirt that had tiny bells that chimed as she swayed. It was a hard choice for her but she finally settled on a racy top. It was a corset from NSTITUTIONALIZED BONDAGE STRETCH TWILL and it had many zippers and D-rings with black padlocks—she loved it. The club was jumping like always when Pollynda arrived. She quickly made her way to the bar and cursed when she saw the mortal bartender was working. Damnit! Now she owed Tony $500. Damn that boys stupidity, she thought. Now Pollynda would have to listen to Tony boast for a week that he had won a bet with “miss hotshot vampire.” The thirst for blood rose at her anger. She turned and waded into the crowd on the dance floor, eyes searching for someone to slack her thirst.

Dark awoke with a strange feeling of energy. He felt renewed and could feel his very power flowing through his veins. Getting up with a flourish of moment, he gracefully strided to the chair and removed his leather trench coat from it. Tonight he was going out and not even hell would be able to stop him. Walking menacingly through the alleys, his coat flowed behind him, catching on every whisp of air on the night breeze. He felt invigorated and couldn't help but to smile as the mere mortals cringed as he walked passed. He felt alive. Reaching Fray, Dark went to the front door this time and didn't even look to see if the bouncer noticed him. He didn't care; not tonight. Inside the club, everything was still the same. The music blared and he say many beings milling around the place. He noticed Pollynda as he entered and started to make his way towards her, making people move out of the way as he strode passed them all. Finding a wall by where Pollynda was, Dark looked at her. "Do you still need that work done? If so, what are the names?" he said without pause as he continued to stare at her with his piercing blue eyes. He awaited her answer as he turned to watch the beings around him.

The urge to jump up and down with glee was quickly suppressed in Pollynda. She knew that this was not a time to loose her calm composer.
With difficulty she kept a straight face and spoke. “I’ll go get the list for you.” She headed to her office, her every step checked so she would not run at superhuman speed in her excitement. Her mind was so focused on the list that she didn’t look back to see where Dark stood.
Pollynda entered the office, closing the door behind her self, and headed for her computer. She always kept an updated list of her original financers and their current whereabouts (as far as she knew). She double checked it to make sure everything was in order then printed off a copy for Dark.
While she was waiting for the list to finish printing Pollynda thought about what she would do at the club that night. She was too excited to just sit in the back office and do paperwork—and she had to keep a look out for that yummy couple that had yet to show up. She wasn’t scheduled to DJ, but how could she deny herself the pleasure? Her decision was made just as the printer quite its clamor of internal gears that made it sound as if the printer was about to explode with every page it printed.
She came out from behind her desk and folded the paper as she walked to the door. When she opened the door, startled, she let out a frightened gasp and dropped her list.

Dark watched Pollynda until she went into the little office and shut the door behind her. He looked around at all the people around him and suddenly felt a strange urge start to creep up from within the depths of him. He could hear the thoughts of everyone in the club and smell the scents that they were giving off. He could hear their heart beats, could hear them breathe. He saw everything at once and could see down to the little details of someone across the club. But most of all, he felt their presences and the blood that flowed within their veins. Dark's eyes burned and glowed with an intense brightness. He didn't know what he was doing, but as he stood there his body began to shake; slowly at first but then began to intensify. He could hear himself growling but he knew not why he was doing it. Looking down to his hands, he saw the fur that began to grow there and watched as his nails began to grow thicker and longer. He tasted his own blood as his fangs pierced his lips. Dark's body began to change. Black fur began to cover his body and his eyes glowed a menacing red while clashing with the blue. His body began to fight over the form in which he was becoming and soon he ended up being a mixture of the two; neither vampire or werewolf. By this time Dark's mind could only hold one thought which was the sweet taste of blood and flesh. He howled with a fierce rage and suddenly sprang from where he stood; tackling a mortal who stood nearby. He listened half heartedly to their screams before he tore out their throats. One by one the mortals fell and one by one he could feel their strength and blood flowing through him. People screamed and ran, yet the music still played. Listening to it as he ravenously fed upon the mortals, it gave him a beat to follow. Soon the club was littered with bodies and a few of the creatures began to close in upon him with fangs shining eerily within the strobe lights. Smiling wickedly Dark extended his hands and took a short sarcastic bow. Standing back up he smirked before turning his hands and clenching his fists. As he did this the bodies of his foes seemed to crumple in on themselves and Dark smiled with the sickening sound of crunching bones and the squishing sounds that emanated from their bodies. Watching as a few creatures tried to flee, Dark looked upon them and they immediately burst into flames. Their screams and howls pierced the air, but only added to Dark's amusement. The club was near empty and Dark stood alone among the carnage. The lights flickered around him and the music blared, yet he stood like a menacing angel of death. He suddenly sensed something though; someone was still there. A name came to mind and Dark thought of Pollynda. Racing with inhuman speed to the office door, it opened before he had a change to turn the knob. Dripping with blood that caught within his fur, he stood there with an evil grin.

Only one thought permeated Pollynda’s brain: ohmygawd, ohmygawd, ohmygawd, ohmygawd, ohmygawd, ohmygawd.
Never before had she seen a werewolf in such a human form. It took her quite a few moments to see the resemblance and discern that it was Dark. The monstrous form he possessed and the wicked grin was not as shocking to Pollynda as the smell that wafted to her from the club.
She could see slightly past Dark and the scene horrified her. Corpses were mutilated and laying in pools of crimson blood. The strobe lights caused the wet floor to glisten. Piles of smoldering ashes were mingled with the dead bodies and the fine particles swirled in the air. Clearly now she could hear the screams of pain and panic.
Looking back at Dark, Pollynda could not hide the immense fear that she felt. Acting on impulse she stepped backwards into her office—attempting to put space between herself and Dark.
Unfortunately, like all horror movie heroines, she had trapped herself in a room with no escape other than getting past the monster blocking the door.

Dark watched as Pollynda backed up away from him. He took a few steps forward. "Pollynda..." he said as he stared at her. Like a tamed beast the brightness of his eyes seemed to grow faint and he extended his hand toward her. Dark watched as Pollynda only stood there before he heard an echoing noise and a sharp pain from his head. Before he knew it, he was passed out on the floor with Pollynda still standing away from him.

It happened as if in slow motion—as all things seem to happen when they are completely unbelievable. Dark crumbled to the floor, the mortal bartender standing over him, shaking, with a barstool in his fierce grip. The boy looked like he was going to puke any second.
Pollynda stared at him in complete disbelief. Slowly he raised his head from looking at what he had done to level a “what do I do now?” look at Pollynda.
That one look bought her out of shock. She didn’t know what to do now. The full impact of everything was crashing into her. The weight of it made her crumble to the floor. She wanted to curl into a ball and sink below the floor—wanted to hide away. Her corset would not allow her to bow her back so she ended up lying beside her desk on her side, knees drawn as close to her body as she could manage and her head hid behind her hands. And she wept.
She wept like she used to when she was really 17 years old. When the world seemed too big; when it seemed that there was no place in it for her. She cried like anyone would when they realize that everything they had worked for suddenly meant nothing. She cried like anyone would when they realized: life was over.
The one thing that gave her life purpose was outside the office door, its reputation—as shady as it had been—was completely destroyed now, Pollynda was sure. And even if it wasn’t, Mac would be coming back to destroy her. So what was the point of anything?
Her red tinged tears slid down her face to be absorbed into the office carpet. She decided to wait there—exactly as she was—until Mac mercifully came to put her out of her misery.

Dark stirred slowly into consciousness on the floor. He looked down at himself and found that blood stained his clothing. How the hell did I get into the office, and how did I get all that blood onto me? Dark wonder and his brow furrowed. He could hear sobbing and sat up to see who it was. His head swam with sudden pain, but after a moment it subsided. Standing, he saw Pollynda. He could sense someone else and turning, he found the bartender standing there shaking. He could feel that something was wrong. The air had a certain weight to it and if Pollynda was crying then something was definitely wrong. Still wondering why he was covered in blood and why Pollynda was crying, Dark ignore the quaking bartender and turned to Pollynda. "What happened?" he said.

“Go back to Hell! Please--leave me alone in mine.”
Pollynda screeched the words with supernatural pitch. It was a sound unlike anything else in the world and definitely inhuman. She wanted nothing more than to kill Dark at the moment. How dare he ruin her life and then have the audacity to innocently ask “what happened?”
Her mind stirred with the possibility of killing Dark. She knew it was suicidal. His power and strength was so much greater than her own. Continuing to sob into her hands, Pollynda concluded she would rather die by the hands of a friend from the past than Dark’s because she wasn’t powerful enough to defend what was hers.
As she waited for Mac to arrive with his team—as Pollynda waited for her death—the only amiable thought that flickered through her mind was, at least Tony and Ardent were not here tonight.

Dark didn't even flinch at the emotional outburst and then watched as Pollynda buried her face into her hands. Watching for a few seconds, he finally went over to her. He didn't know what was wrong and since Pollynda wasn't going to tell him verbally then he decided to read her mind and emotions. Dark could sense already the feeling of pain and loss, but he didn't know what it was from. Searching quickly through her mind, he saw the blood and bodies that littered the floor outside of the office. Dark was appalled at the gruesome scene and stepped back from Pollynda when he saw himself through her eyes. "Pollynda....I..." Dark didn't know what to say to her. He had not meant to do any of that. He wasn't even aware of the fact that he had. He growled to himself before looking back at Pollynda. "We should...clean up. I will help in anyway I can to help you." He looked between Pollynda and the quaking boy who stood wide eyed near the wall of the office. He shook his head; what had he done this time?

Pollynda rolled onto her back, knees bent up, to look up at Dark in complete stupefaction. Tears continued you roll down the sides of her face as she spoke in a hushed tone. “Help in any way you can? Don’t you think you’ve helped enough?”
A wary sigh escaped Pollynda. Addressing the mortal in the doorway—still clutching the barstool—she raised her voice, trying for a commanding tone. “Get out of here while you still can. You don’t want to get caught up in the aftermath of all this. …go!”
The mortal bartender didn’t hesitate to obey. He dropped the stool and ran away from the office, slipping and sliding on the blooded floor.
Left alone in the office staring at Dark time seemed to stand still. Suddenly the quiet sound of many footsteps across the messy floor of the club was heard by Pollynda. She could tell Dark could hear them too.
Another sigh emanated from Pollynda. This time it was breathy with hope and dread…and sounded almost like summons. It was one whisper of a word: Mac.

Dark watched Pollynda's tear stained face and waited to see if she would respond. He knew what she was feeling yet didn't know what to do for her. Her words rung in his ears, and he knew that they held some truth to them. Dark could hear footsteps resounding from the floor of the club. He continued to stare at Pollynda and she sighed. A name flickered suddenly and Dark wondered what this name could mean for them.

The footsteps came closer and closer to the office door. There were many of them, all trying to be as silent as possible while avoiding the mess on the floor. Pollynda closed her eyes to concentrate her attention on the sure steps of one individual who seemed to walk through Dark’s massacre without hesitation and with a single destination in mind. Her eyes opened a fraction of a second before Mac appeared in the doorway to the office, occupying the space the mortal bartender had vacated only a minute earlier. Mac’s face was stoic as he took in the office scene. In his right hand, he held a large handgun against the side of this thigh. Pollynda didn’t want to think about what was about to happen to her; she needed to occupy her thoughts. From deep within the recesses of her mind came the hauntingly melodic lyrics of VNV Nation’s “Left Behind”. So afraid Open your eyes Know too well That which awaits you Something undefined There in the half-light The demon without The demon inside To play then torment you Feelings so sure Feelings so uncertain Something is wrong Everyone's gone You have been left behind Everyone left the demon inside
Pollynda didn’t have time to observe how oddly fitting the lyrics were to her situation. As the last words played through her mind, she saw Mac raise his gun at her and cut short the last word of the verse by pulling the trigger. Pollynda closed her eyes again and entered oblivion—anticipating the pain that would come from the stake like bullet piercing her heart.

Dark felt the presence of the man before he saw him enter the room. He carried on him a weapon; some sort of gun. Dark knew his intent before he even had a chance to raise the gun. As the man raised the gun and aimed it at Pollynda, Dark went into motion. Moving swiftly and with inhuman speed, even faster than any normal immortal, Dark quickly moved to shield Pollynda as the sound of a bullet shot rang through the air. Dark felt his fangs protrude suddenly as the bullet pierced into his shoulder and he growled, but ignored the pain. There was a moment of stillness and silence before the man again brought the gun up for another shot. Dark was much faster though and before the man had a chance to do anything else, Dark was upon his and yanked the gun from his hands. Hitting the man with in over the head, he listened to the thud and watched as he crumpled to the ground. Looking to Pollynda, Dark wondered about the other men that were outside of the room still.

Pollynda cautiously opened one eye and looked around before opening the other eye. “Ugh, you asshole!” Pollynda rolled onto her feet and wiped at her skirt, trying to smooth it down and dislodge the debris that it had gathered from the floor.
She moved beside Dark and punched him slightly harder than jokingly in the arm, “Smooth move, exlax. Gawd, now I wanna live a while longer just to see you get yourself out of this shit pile—you bastard. ”
Suddenly Pollynda brought her hand close to her mouth and spit across her fingers. She furiously wiped at her face, trying to wash away the tear stains. When she was done, she turned her face up to Dark and asked innocently, “all gone?” At his nod she wiped her moist hand on her skirt like a child would.
Pollynda stepped backward until she was leaning against her desk. Outside the office she could hear the hurried steps of the other vampire hunters seeking places to bunker down for a fight. She gestured out the door and over the unconscious body of Mac while speaking in a haughty voice. “Well psycho-boy, cant you just blow up their weapons like you did my bartender? Hmm?” Pollynda folder her arms across her chest to emphasize her nonchalance about the situation that would inevitably kill them both.

Dark stared at her blankly. Sure he could do that. It would be easy, one part of him said. It was the darker part of him though and he could feel the darkness course through him as it tried to take over. Mentally shaking himself, Dark tried his best to suppress the darkness that had begun to seep into him. "If you wished it, then I would," Dark said quietly before walking closer to the door.

Pollynda spoke in a calm voice to hide her raging emotions. “I wish it.”

Dark turned and looked at Pollynda for a moment, not wanting to delve into his darker side, but not wanting to let her down. He sighed as he faced the door again. He had never really been able to control that darkness that lurked within his soul, but he thought...maybe, just maybe this time he could bring both sides together in the effort to save them both. Dark closed his eyes and breathed out slowly. He could feel the summoned energy rising up from his very soul; feel the darkness welling inside. His eyes burned and he could feel his fangs as they started to dig into his lips so he drew them back in a snarl. Looking at Pollynda one last time, his body began to shake with the beginning of his change and several moments later, he became a different being. A howl pierced the silence of the building and Dark stepped through the doorway into the club where he knew the men were waiting. He seemed to be able to control his darker self, though he knew that it would take over if he tried to control it too much. His body itched with the energy running through him and his eyes burned as they glowed. He felt unstoppable. "Look over there!" he heard someone say and watched as a group of men began to close in around him. He couldn't help but smile slightly before snarling at them. Standing at least two feet above them all, he was not intimidated by their small weapons. He watched as the all drew their weapons and took aim. Dark's hair began to rise on unseen currents of air and seemed to float around him like it had a mind of it's own. He looked down upon the men and with a slight smirk he turned his palm face up, closed his eyes, and with a burst of energy he closed his hand. Yelps of surprise came from the men as the weapons in their hands suddenly were crushed by an unseen force and were thrown to the ground. Dark opened his eerily lit eyes and smiled at them. The air seemed to hum with Dark's energy, yet he was struggling with himself so as not to lose control. He had seen what that could lead to. His body was shaking with the effort, but the men didn't seem to take any notice of it and stood there as if struck dumb. He was losing. He could feel his grasp slipping away and could feel himself being enveloped by the darkness. He was growling and the men seemed to be backing away, but his sight began to grow fuzzy and he couldn't see. He blinked back the burning tears of pain but couldn't hold on any longer. "For you Pollynda," Dark said through clenched teeth as his body shook from the exertion. The darker side then took over. Dark stood there, looking menacingly upon the men. One courageously took charge, but Dark pushed him aside as if he were just some feather upon the wind. The other men did not seem to want to get involved but with rage for their friend who now lied upon the floor unconscious, they surged forward. Looking to the ceiling, Dark let loose an unearthly cry and unleashed a storm of intense energy. The men flew back as if sucked up by a tornado, smashing into the walls of the club. Dark stood there wavering for a moment before falling to the ground in a heap. His form returned to normal.

Well that was certainly interesting, Pollynda mused silently to herself after witnessing Dark’s transformation. Once Dark was out of the office Pollynda flattened herself against the opposite wall, and peeked out the doorway.
Dark had a savage appearance as he dealt with the people who were sent to kill them. He was still coated in the blood of the former patrons of Fray and that added to his already frightening facade. Pollynda herself was frightened and she was fairly certain that Dark wouldn’t attack her. She couldn’t believe that none of the humans had fled yet.
Suddenly Pollynda was propelled away from the wall. She hit her desk with painful force. It took her a minute to recover before she was able to get to her feet again.
She walked slowly out into the club, cautious of potential attackers. She found Dark unconscious, face down, on the slick floor. The urge to kick his still form was nearly overpowering. Instead, Pollynda flailed her arms around her head in a gesture that expressed her exasperation and restraint against violence.
The debate within herself of whether to leave him, or take him out of the club lasted a few minutes as she looked about her club, and then down at the body of Dark. Both sides brought up valid points; however, in the end, the decision to take Dark out of the club was reached.
Grumbling about how much of a pain in the ass Dark had become, Pollynda lifted his body and walked out of the club and into the night. There were still many hours of darkness remaining until sunrise so Pollynda once again returned Dark to his lair, but refused to linger this time.
She left, closing the door firmly behind herself. A single tear rolled down her cheek as she thought of all the things she would be leaving behind in Retermositoa. The city that had been her home all her life.
Well, Pollynda thought to herself, its time I experienced everything that the world had to offer. And with that concluding thought, she raced off into the night—no destination in mind, with her supernatural speed.

Dark woke up to the fleeting image of Pollynda. He cried out to her, but it went unanswered. The wind was all he heard in return. Getting up slowly, Dark found that he was only subtly dizzy and that his strength was still intact. He did not know where Pollynda had gone and he worried what would happen. Sighing he decided to come up with a plan to set things right. He couldn't reverse time or change what he had done, but he could do all he could to try. Trudging down the lonesome streets, Dark made it to the front of Fray before the sun was even beginning to show it's appearance on the horizon. No one was around and silence hung thick in the air. As he opened the door to the club a creak squealed through the streets, but Dark ignored it and entered. Dark wanted to walk back out. Bodies littered the floor and the stench of old blood entered his nose. Where to start? he wondered, and where to put the bodies. He couldn't hear the groans of the men that had been here before and figured that they had left at the first possible moment. He didn't blame them. "Hmm, where the hell can I put these?" he wondered a loud and listened as his voice echoed through the air. This effect was eerie even to Dark, especially since the club was usually full of people and had music blaring around them. Trust me. I can take care of it all. Dark heard his darker side whispering this through his body and mind, yet he stalled. Hadn't that dark side been the very side that had created this mess? There was no one around though; no one to hear and no one to get hurt. Dark stood amongst the carnage and pondered this thought for a moment. What harm could he do with no one around? Sighing with the complexity of the whole situation, he gave into the darker side again even though he had promised himself that he would not. The transformation took only a matter of seconds and seemed to be easier than the last time. Dark looked around at the corpses and summoned all his energy around him. He closed his eyes and imagined where everything was within the club. The air seemed to hum as if charged with Dark's energy and as he opened his eyes a sudden flash of energy erupted around him. The bodies were hurled into the air and then suddenly held there. The blood and everything around them was brought up as well and as Dark stood there, they suddenly exploded into billions of tiny fragments which then dissolved into the air. Dark slumped, but did not fall to the floor. He was suddenly back to normal again. Looking around him, Dark was amazed. Everything was as it had been, no blood or bodies to be seen anywhere. Everything was spotless. Dark couldn't believe his eyes, yet he stood there and could not help but believe in what had happened. Dark made his way out of the club with much on his mind. Would Pollynda even come back? Would Fray be sold and become some sort of run down bar or restaurant? Dark could not imagine this town without Fray or Pollynda. If she decided to leave that was her choice, though he did not like to think about that possibility, but he would not let his favorite club go to ruin. He would run it himself if he had to. Walking along the streets, he knew that he had only one thing left to do to make things right. He had to make who ever those men had been think that everything had just been a horrible dream and that nothing had happened.

Pollynda ran down streets that were nothing but a blur at her speed. She didn’t even slow down as she left the city and entered it's outer limits.
She did however slowdown to a brisk walking pace as she went by the gates of Retermositoa Cemetery that was set a few meters back from the road she walked along. She looked in at the cemetery through its wrought iron gates with fond memories. She remembered the time when she was younger—when she was mortal, when she and her friends would listen to loud music while drinking and dancing around the headstones that marked the burial place of Retermositoa’s long dead citizens.
Suddenly Pollynda was startled to such an extent that she let out a girlish scream. From high in the tree just beyond the gates, a young man of about 20 years of age had jumped down and was now looking out the gates toward Pollynda. He was armed with weapons that clearly marked him as a member of The Organization. More importantly, someone who’s sole purpose was to kill vampires. He watched as she passed by the cemetery. Once she was past the cemetery Pollynda continued to run with supernatural speed. She continued running, and when the road curved about 30 kilometers outside of the city, the young vampire continued straight. She ran through the forest, gliding over the fallen trees and brush like wind. The freedom Pollynda felt was indescribable.
The sun was only about forty-five minutes from fully rising when Pollynda sought out a payphone. She followed the faintest smell of gasoline and came upon an Esso station just over a quarter of an hour later. When she stopped before the payphone, her legs were weak from the exertion she had placed on them. Her breathing was also laboured. Marathon running was not something she did often. Taking a minute to rest, Pollynda looked around to try and determine where she was.
She had no clue.
With no money with her, not even a quarter, Pollynda called Ardent collect. When the automated machine asked her to state her name, Pollynda stated, “Ardentacceptthegawddamncharges.”
The phone rang five times before a very groggy Ardent picked up the phone and accepted the charges. “What the hell do you want Pollynda?”
“Ardent, my darling. I have some bad news.” Pollynda paused for effect. “I’ve had to leave Retermositoa for a rather long while. Everything I have is left to you, all my money, my loft; everything except the club. If its still standing at the end of the week you and Tony will be co-owners. My lawyer will get in touch with you and explain everything.” Pollynda said this with an air like that of someone who was leaving instructions to a person who would be looking after their dog for a week—not giving away everything they had worked so hard to achieve.
Ardent started to object but Pollynda cut her off. “Ardent—Ardent! You’re my best friend, and I wish you only the best. Stay strong, stay smart, and stay mortal. I’ll give you a call and let you know what’s going on once I’ve figured it out myself.
“Tell Tony I said ‘later’.“
With that, Pollynda hung up the phone and continued running down the road that the Esso station was situated on. She ran into the city just as the sun was coming over the horizon. She spent the night in the basement of a shabby house in the middle of the city.
It was just after dark when Tony pulled into the employee parking lot of Fray. He was very concerned to find that his was the only car in the lot. Usually the small lot was near to full by the time he came. Something was up, he could tell.
Cautiously Tony approached the back door marked “Employee’s Only” and unlocked it. When he entered the club, everything was as it should be before the club opened. Tony was thoroughly confused and whispered to himself, “what the hell…?”

It didn't take long for Dark to find the men. Their scent still lingered strong; it seemed that the scent of fear always lasted longer than any other. Sneaking up to where they were under the cover of the darkness surrounding him, Dark tapped into his mental energy and and reading the men's thoughts, he made them believe that it had never happened. It took him a few minutes to accomplish this since there were many men, but after an exhausting time, he finally achieved it. Sweat beading his face, he breathed a sigh and decided that he had better test to see if it had worked or not. Walking briskly out from where he had been, the men jumped into action and armed themselves. Dark contained his annoyance and his smile, but stood there as they looked at him with a suspecting look. "What are you doing out in the streets at this time of the night?" one of the men said. Dark stared at them for a moment. There were always people out no matter what the time was, but he ignored the comment. "Have any of you heard about Fray?" he asked in a low voice. "What do you mean? What happened there? I told Pollynda that if-" "Nothing happened there," Dark cut the man short. "I was only wondering if you knew about it." The man who had spoken last told him that they had and Dark only nodded before walking away. Several voices called out something, but Dark did not listen to what they said. He had accomplished what he had come to do. Walking through the streets again, Dark didn't feel like going to his home. He had too much on his mind to go there. Not knowing where else to go though, he let his feet guide him. Continuing to walk through the darkness of the streets and alley ways, Dark found himself once again in front of Fray. Looking at the lightening hues of the sky, Dark decided that he would stay the night here. No one would come anyways. It was strange to see the club so empty, but Dark shrugged off the strange feeling and walked around inspecting things. It was exactly the same, maybe even cleaner, yet no one was here. What had he done? his mind screamed at him. Sighing, he found a suitable spot against the wall and closed his eyes; waiting for the darkness of night to come once more. The shadows of night crept into the club and the sweet smell of darkness woke Dark. Looking around, the club was still bare and no one was there. The odd feeling again entered him and guilt rose with it this time. Sighing, he looked around for something to drink and found some heavy enough liquor behind the bar. Taking the bottle over with him to his favorite wall, he leaned against it and drank a few gulps. Suddenly, Dark heard a car door and the jingling of keys. Someone was coming. The door opened slowly and a figure walked in. Dark knew he was in the shadows enough not to be seen and only looked on to see who this person could be. As the figure walked into the club, Dark noticed him to be Tony. Listening closely to his footsteps before they abruptly stopped, Dark heard the man say "what the hell...?" and Dark decided that he had remained within the shadows long enough. "Interesting isn't it?" Dark said as he walked from the shadows, bottle still in his hand.
