"And how often have we tried to settle peace? More than once. Put that in your history books," Jirou glared, "Now, be gone. you have already choosen to leave this council."

Arsen stalked through the empty tower carefully, "C'mon out. I can hear your ragged breath. You are far from hiding from me."

Justin grinned a wolfish grin, sketched a bow and left the room. The eyes of the guards on either side of the halls, and through the empty great hall, followed him in stony silence. He beamed at each and every one, casting a greeting here and there.
As the sound of his boots echoed in the halls he heard the gentle click of a women's footsteps approach. Soon he saw a retinue of ladies, in swishing skirts and stiff frocks com around the corner ahead of him. They were followed by a pair of guards, who upon catching sight of him rushed to the front, halting the procession.
"You will bow before the queen." The taller of the two spoke icily.
Without question, Justin bent at the waist, keeping his eyes on the young girl before him. She was the dark haired lass he had seen in the inner chamber, the pearls in her hair capturing the torchlight.
"Queen Saiya." He stood straight and smiled at her. "And when is the child to be born?"

She laughed, "Where it always is."
"Mistress... I just recived news... Arsen returned to work," A servant near her said.
"Ah.. well, that figures. And I did wish to talk to him.." Saiya sighed, "Excuse me sir, I must return to the library."

Arsen grinned as he walked through the house, humming Beautiful People as he walked.

Justin shook his head at the Queen's odd reply, as her retinue passed him by. The people here seemed to be anything but on the level.
He continued to wander around the castle, no one seemed to pay him much notice nor even bat an eyelash as he drifted from hall to hall, room to room. Eventually he found himself in a library he was sure would fit the entirety of his house. His eyes washed over the spines of the books, hardcovers and paperback intermingled, the glossy covers of new mixed with the dull, worn covers of the old. The smell that filled his nostrils was the pleasant mix of ink, parchment, and that soft haze of musty, old books.
The silence in the room was comforting to him, calming the churning in his blood that was making him short tempered all day, nearing driving him mad. The full moon was nearing, and he hadn't eaten in a month. He needed the calm serenity that found him here.

"Hmmm? Who's there?" A man looked around the corner. He looked to be eighteen, shaggy, unkempt black hair. There was a black blindfold over his eyes, the ends frayed and a red cross tattoo on his cheek. He wore a long gray jacket, the sleves attached with metal rings on his upper arms. His pants were the same gray as the rest of his clothes with a skull for the buckle. His skin was also gray, "Ah, you're here for the signiing of the treaty aren't you? Wandering a presume. So, what are you? I can't quiet place the scent... Wolf perhaps?"

Just resisted the urge to twitch his ear in irritation... just when he thought he'd found peace.
"Wolf would nearly cover it -- anything else is irrelevant." His head cocked on an angle as he took in the man before him, his nose huffing in the strange scent this man carried. His eyes travelled over the figure before him, taking in the monochromatic tone of everything, including the man himself. The only colour was a splash of red in the shape of a cross on the man's cheek.
His skin crawled with want to change, his senses reaching out for his other form to aid them. He felt his skin on his mid-back twitch and brushed it quickly with his fingertips to force it away.
Focus on the here and now, not where you long to be.
He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the scent of the books and the man before him.
"I originally came to see what all the furor was about, and found it not quite to my taste." He sat on the edge of a nearby table, his eyes shifting over all the crevasses in the room. If this man had snuck up on him, who else might? Again his skin twitched and he sharply shook his head to brush it off.
Later, not now.
He looked glanced at the hand he had rested on the table top only to see that his nails had had morphed into his claws, thickened and ugly. The edges were sharp, and he'd already accidently left a scratch on the oak beneath him. He looked up quickly to see if the man had noticed.

"Sorry, I didn't think anyone else was in here. I can smell your anger from here," the other said, climbing up a ladder, his fingers brushing the book's spine, "I'm just researching for a friend of mine. He's too busy to come by." The other shook his head, 'I'm Shadow, by the way. I train the guards here. The only werewolf that lives in Crimson Moon."

Justin's hand clenched, his claws pressing into his skin.
"My anger is not directed at you sir, but at myself." He dragged his other hand through his hair, his claws catching in a few tangles. "Are you truly the only wolf here? That must be a lonely hunt."

"Eh, not really. I can't make fun of the others who aren't brave enough to stay here. Those who'd rather turn tail and run. So, I'm guessing its close to the full moon? Hmm. Been waiting for it," Shadow jumped down from the ladder, landing perfectly, "So, I was right. You are different. Care to tell how?"

He shook his body, not catching himself in time to stop the wolfish action. "You're probably one of few who doesn't know. I'm a hybrid. Wolf first, vampire mere moments later." He shrugged in the human manner. "The moon has a little bit of a different pull on me. It's the only night in the month I have to be both, and the lines between the two blur."
He cringed as he felt the base of his spine itch.

"Hmmm... I think there's a book here on that... somewhere. But a Hybrid? Were you shunned from both sides? Or just one?" Shadow shook his head, "Sorry, I'm being nosey... Curiosity. Other than Arsen, I'm usually alone here."

"It's a little strange in my city, we aren't as organized as you people are here. I haven't been... officially shunned from either side. I just choose not to run with one crowd. I don't really fit." He sighed and dragged his hand down his face, feeling the gentle scrape of claws down his chin. He watched in silence for a moment as the blind wolf run his hands across the spines of books, pulling one out here and there.
Finally he said, "I'm -- I'm going to have to go for a little while." The lurch in his gut was getting stronger, and if he wasn't careful he'd change here, now. "I've enjoyed our brief chat, perhaps I'll be back." He stood as calmly as he could and began to move toward the door.

"You aren't as a lone as you think," Shadow muttered, "I've been around for 500 years-stumbling through the world. Then, Jagger brought Arsen by. The man has no clue about himself. Part vampire you could say, and I'm only partially wolf-due to lack of eyes. I met him, and helped him regain part of himself. We've been best friends ever since. You can make a friend like that, Justin, if you feel the need. You shouldn't keep running," he finished darkly, before returning to the books, "We are never alone. We are all alike. everything striving for the same goal."

Justin paused before walking over the threshold, his right arm jerking erratically. He used his left hand to steady the convulsing muscles and looked over his shoulder. "I never said I was alone; I'm a wolf, I have a pack." He pictured Pollynda. "My pack just isn't conventional."
He started to shrug, then stopped as his arm spasmed again.
"If you'll excuse me, I think the moon is calling for my blood." He continued through the door, staggering slightly into the door frame. His body shook sharply all over, trying to shake off the feeling. Ten years and he still had troubles dealing with the full moon. Usually he just stayed home and went out for a run in the back woods. Here he was trapped. A city full of concrete and cobblestones, and people. Sure they may be the undead, but tonight... tonight was the one night he would not be completely in control. The one night he was vulnerable.
He traveled unsteadily down the long corridors, resting his hand along the wall to keep upright. He passed servants and noblemen alike, and all gave him a wide berth and disdained look.
Outside, outside was where he wanted, needed to be.
Soon.

Arsen paced through the reckage of his home. It was quiet, too quiet for his liking. He snarled as he inhaled.
"Where are you? Hiding on a night like this? Cowards. The moon is full. The blood is howling. You can't hide forever," His red eyes seemed to go as he steeped into an empty room, the moon shinging on his back, "Ah-ha. there you are."
The gun was in his hand before a human could blink, the corpse seemed to beon the ground before the bullet left the gun. Arsen laughed.
"Pathetic fools. You're trespassing on my land now. I rule this place." Bluffs, ttrue, but only to those who were in the know, "Come on out, dogs. I'm ready to play."
He leapted suddenly, landing on someone. there was a thud and a sickening cracking. Arsen's bright white teeth grlowed as he grinned.
"Like a tiger, gents. How fast are you?"
His movements were a blur, killing whoever-whatever-was in the room.
"Now, now, that wasn't fun at all. Maybe I can find some more."

He didn't realize he'd found a door until his fingertips began to feel the grain of wood rather than the gritty coolness of stone. His nose smelled the night air before he pulled open the heavy oak door, the steel ring that was it's handle rough, the metal reflecting the it's age with the dents used to shape it. He opened eyes he hadn't realized were closed as he found himself standing in a high walled courtyard.
His blood seemed to cool as he stood beneath the moonlight, arching his spine and throwing his head back. It was just too stifling inside, the stone too suffocating. He began to feel his muscles relax, his mind regain control.
If he could just stay outside for the next few days he would make it through.
Then he heard the voice calling out and smell the blood. The scent was drifting down from the tower over the courtyard. Slowly his eyes opened and looked up.

Arsen sighed. "Jesus. And I thought the gathering was boring. Maggots break in here."
He wandered through the dark halls. He could sense something strong. One was far ahead, the other below in the courtyard.
"Which is better game, I wonder, Arsen grinned, "Lets just see whats ahead then double back."
He took off at a dead sprint, his feet seeming to not touch the ground as he flew through the halls. He slid to a stop. It was quiet again. Only one strong aura. He bared his fangs in a snarl.
"Bloody coward," He muttered, then continued muttering something in what sounded like Arabic. With a frustrated snarl, he turned on his heel and leapt through a ornate stained glass window, and landed gently in the courtyard. He found the glass falling around him an added effect. He blinked scanning the area, but frustrated with his blind side that wasn't healing yet.

Justin watched from the shadows as the vampire landed in a crash of glass. His eyes narrowed as the vampire looked darkly from side to side, searching.
In what he could only think of as a stupid act of testosterone, he took a step forward, head held high, and cocked to the side. He thought he had control of his wolfen tendencies, but this.. this was a wolf act. Explore first, wary, but curious. Pay the consequences later, preferably holding the prize in your jaw.
"Looking for someone?" His nose read the blood that his eyes quickly noted. his eyes scanned the marks on his skin, the scrapes and cuts. And his injury, the one limiting his vision. The wolf read two things: vulnerable and dangerous.

Arsen glared, "A wolf? At a vampire's coven. What, you have a death wish, kid? Or are you just stupid? I'd advise that you leave now. I don't know how well I can do to not kill you at the moment."
Arsen stepped back, pulling his hand and jacket off, setting them on the ground, "Out of my way, wolf. this is my home, my domain. I won't have a dog screw this up for me. I don't need anything bad to happen to me. Not again. Leave, now.."

Justin's head cocked to the other side. He could smell the irritation, the exertion, and the stink of, not fear, but its cousin, anxiety.
He stayed where he was and watched the vampire's actions with keen interest. Everything felt as if it was in slow motion for him, and a strange calmness was upon him. It felt as though the moon were drugging him with her presence, giving him a sense of invincibility and nerve he knew didn't really exist but could not contain.
He didn't want to leave this place, to get lost again, to loose control...

Aresn's lip curled back in a snarl, "You ass. Are you trying to piss me off? I don't need this. Not now. I'm a wreck as it is. I don't need you making it worse."
He took a step foward, angling himself so that his blind side was toward a wall, his body in a defensive position. His eyes glanced toward the moon as a crimson red engulfed it-how the town got its name. Blood was being drunk somewhere. Arsen's snarl bended into a grin, "You wolves get your power from the moon. Vampires get their's from our crimson moon. So, here we are, two creatures of the night. What will you do. Turn tail and run like a pup.
"Or, are you going to be the idiot who decides to attack a vampire head on in the dead of night?"

Justin felt himself surface and forced himself to lean casually against a tree behind him.
"You, vampire, are way too fucking paranoid." His voice sounded gruff to his ears, his vocal cords retaining the wolf in him. "Ever think the world isn't out to get you? That for once in your existence the world doesn' not rotate around you but on its own axis? Lord boy, you need a reality check." Casually he held his hand out before him, swallowing the cringe at the half-changed claws glistening in the dark. He flexed his fingers, as though he were merely standing on a high street having a chat with a business associate.
He straightened after a moment, heaving a dog-like sigh.
"If you really want to scrap, dead-boy, then lets go. Otherwise, calm the fuck down."

Arsen's eyes narrowed, "Full moon. Worse than a drunk when you're a wolf. So, thats it, ins't it? Most dangerous time for your blood to be out. Not wolf. Not undead. Hmm," He sighed, "Sad really. So what were you, an accident or just a freak of nature? I've met a few of them, but none as so... bold as you. Boldness or stupidity. I guess I can sympathize with that. Especially with the going ons here." He stepped back leaning against the wall, 'So, just looking for a place to change, or a place to catch your breath?"

Justin felt a twinge in his side and before he knew what he was doing he had stepped out into the moonlight overhead.
He didn't feel in the mood for a fight he felt.. he felt more like basking in the moon, lounging like a wolf in the sunlight. It warmed him like the sun, comforted him. Calmed him.
He laughed to himself, he was like a drunk -- punch drunk, one too many looks at the sky.
"Looking for a place to gain control." Although to be honest he felt like changing, like jumping that stone wall and taking off into the night, only feeling the ground beneath his paws and the cool night air through his coat. He found himself sizing up the wall before he could curb the urge, but in a moment he regained himself.
It hadn't been this bad since the first time. Maybe he should lock himself in a room somewhere inside, like he did at home.

"Hmph. You act as bad as a newborn vampire. Been a while for you, huh? I can show you someplace you can stay-I doubt you want to run loose in this city right now," Arsen grabbed his thigns from the pile at his feet, "Follow me if you want some where to stay."
Arsen paced over to an open doorway-the door missing. It led down into the dank cellars.

"Not exactly 'been awhile' more like... been ages since I was somewhere different." He followed the vampire slowly, his head flicking form side to side trying to catch sounds he thought he heard. It had been awhile since he'd been anywhere but home when he felt the pull of the moon. The last time he'd been elsewhere was back when he'd been with Dri.
The cold damp of the cellar sank into his bones, and he wished mournfully for his thick wolf coat to keep him warm. The smell was that of musty stone and wet mildew. He kept having to huff to keep his sensitive nose from sneezing. As he felt the dark close around him he had to stop himself from going back to the moonlight. It was strange how strongly he felt its pull, and it wasn't even yet full moon, merely the days leading up to it.

I'm guessing you're one of the ones Jagger sent a letter to? He's so unorganized. He sent the letters out a week before the meeting," Arsen sighed, "I can't believe I work for him."

Justin was fascinated by merely watching the act of his hand morph from human to wolf paw before his eyes. Never ha he had the lack of control he know felt.
As he realized the vampire had said something he quickly scanned his memory for what he may have heard but not heard.
"Wolf, the name is Justin Wolf." He stuffed his hand into his jeans pocket and tried to think what he could have taken that would hae this effect on him. "And you are Arsen."
The deeper they walked into the dark the more Justin's nose filled with the cent of the earth and his mouth filled with the gritty taste of rot and fungi. his tongue swiped around his teeth, his throat swallowing convulsively. Any self-respecting wolf would not use this as their den.
Too bad that at the moment his den was about a 45 minute car trip away.

Justin shrugged as went through the now open door. "It's up to you. nothing spectacular is going to happen. If you've got nothing better on..." He sat down on a seat in front of the only small window in the circular room, basking in the moonlight.
Before he knew what happened he was wolf, with his nose tucked neatly into his tail, his clothes in a pile on the floor. He raised his head quickly, ears back in irritation. He'd never had it happen that quickly or that smoothly before; he hadn't even known it was coming. He sneezed quizzically and shook his ruff.
Just what the hell was going on?
