Arsen chuckled, "I'll just leave you to your own then. I have to go do some cleaning up as it is."
As soon as he'd said the words, a crash echoed from the courtyard.
"Speak of the Devil. Sounds like Jaggers home. Stay here. I don't know what he'd do if he found out a wolf was here. Ones bad enough for him. I'll send someone in later with some food for you. I'm pretty sure you could use it," Arsen grinned, "Raw meat, right? Fayverent will bring it in for you. I should go."
Arsen turned on his heel, walking back down the stairs and back out of the tower, laughing wildly at Jagger who was sprawled in a ile of bricks, a girl snarling at him on the other side.
Too close for comfort apparently.
"Arsen, Saiya wants to see you," Jagger muttered, shakily standing.

Justin huffed as the heavy door slammed behind the retreating figure of Arsen. The click of a lock was unmistakable.
He heard the crash and the laughter that followed. He flicked one ear back, the other forward, the equivalent of raising an eyebrow. This was most definitely a very weird place.
He sighed again and shifted deeper into the cushions beneath him. At least he had room service.
A large doggy smile split across his face at the idea; he hoped Arsen wouldn't skimp on the blood.

Arsen blinked, "Saiya?"
"Yes, Mistress Saiya wantes to see you," The girl said. Arsen muttered something in Arabic again and walked pasted the girl.
"Don't do anything, Jagger. I wouldn't want you to be hurt," Arsen laughed, dogding a brick aimed at his head. He barked a laugh before heading back to the castle.

Saiya sat out on a balcoy, watching the moon as it faded back to red.
"Like a fairy tale, isn't it?"
She turned. One red eye stared back at her from inside the dark room.
She sighed, "Arsen, don't scare me like that. You shouldn't be in here."
"Like Romeo and Juliet, Saiya. I can't help it."
"Are you mad at me?"
"For what? Marrying Jirou?" Arsen's fangs flashed in the light, "No. I'm not. I wasn't ready. Neither were you. Jirou asked first as it is."
"You didn't want it, though."
"You don't want him, I can't do anything about it; unless I want to die."

Justin didn't know how long he dozed before his curiosity got the better of him. He sat up, placing his fore paws on the sil of the window and stuck his head out, ears forward and nose quivering. His eyes picked out two figures in the courtyard below, that of a man and a woman. They were laughing and joking, the girl skirting around a pile of rubble, the man stalking her like she were a deer.
A gust of night air carried their scents on an updraft to his flared nostrils. The smell of wolf hit him like the smell of fresh water to someone stranded at sea.
So that must be Jagger.

(... The chick can be Fay... I forgot 'bout her...)
Jagger glanced up, seeing the shadow on the ground, "Damn it, Arsen. You brought another pet."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Arsen leapt out of the balcony quickly as the gaurds followed close behind. Somehow, Jirou had walked in. Of course, in the misdt of Arsen and Saiya's kiss.
Arsen shook his head, 'Idiot, when will you learn?'
The gaurds were close behind, Shadow at the lead. Arsen could smell his regret and remorse.
But, where to hide now?

Justin's head cocked to the side, his tongue lolling out as Jagger looked up at him.
As he watched the girl tossed her head, the wind coiling through it and bringing her scent up to him as well. He leaned further out the window as is swirled up to him.
Wolf.
She too was wolf? He though Shadow had said he was alone here...
He watched as she laughed again, catching the sleeve of Jagger and pulling his attention back to her.

Arsen shot through the hole in the wall, falling ovver the pile of rocks and skidding across the court. He shakily stood.
"What did you do?" Jagger hissed. Arsen shook his head as the gaurds barreled through the hole. Jirou paced from behind hind them, snarling; the anger was practically radiating off of him.
"You," Jirou snarled, pacing toward Arsen, a sword in his hand, "dare to touch the queen? My queen?"
Painic flew into Arsen's eyes as he backed himself into a corner, pressing himslef against the bricks.
"Jirou, please," Jagger stepped forward.
"Stay out of thes, Jagger Reo. You are not part of this," Jirou shot a glance over his shoulder.
Jagger's eyes narrowed, "He's mine."
"I bought him. You promised not to drop him. He is still mine."
Arsen was gasping, his only visible turning a dull black, red tendrils starting to lick at his feet. Jagger saw it, stepping back; as did Shadow.
"Let him go. He's going to loose control, Jirou. I don't want to have to pay for everyone's death," Jagger warned, his arms out as everyone pressed against him.

Justin's tongue was clamped back in his jaw as his neck arched, allowing him to look out easier and watch in interest at the scene unfolding beneath him.
He glanced at the door once, sizing up the thick wood and remembering the lock. Although he could probably get out, what use would he be, other than to aggravate the situation.
He could smell the mix-mash of emotions boiling over, the rage, fear and guilt.
His nose was almost overly sensitive to the tension.

"Damnit, Jirou! Move!" Jagger leapt forward, shoving Jirou out of the way as the black at Arsen's feet rose up, catching Jagger's side. The tracker and the king fell, the tracker unmoving.
Shadow snarled, "Arsen! Stop!"
The group leapt out of the way as Arsen took a step forward, the black epxanding around him like a shadow.
His next footfall was just as quiet, and, suddenly, he was gone; the black following like the tail lights on a car.
Shadow shook his head, "All right, whose hurt?"
"It seems like only Jagger, Sir." Someone stated as the gaurd stumbled to his feet.
"All right. Sound the alarm. Tell everyone to get inside. I don't want to put Arsen on a death trial."
"What about Jagger? He's hurt pretty badly."
"I'll take a look. Now, go sound the alarms. All of you. I have it under control here. Here's a hint:He'll either go to Saiya or flee the city, all right?"
The men nodded, taking off.
"Fayverent, let the wolf out of the tower. I'll handle Jagger," Shadow instructed. The girl nodded, darting toward the open doorway, "Your highness, I suggest that you stay here. This'll be the last place Arsen will come," Shadow lifted Jagger into his arms, "He's hurt badly... I'll take care of him. You need some rest, Sir."
Jirou nodded, he sounded distracted "Yes... Of course..."
Shadow started walking toward the door to the mansion-place... thingy.
"Shadow, tell me, was that really Arsen?"
"Arsen may be the oldest of your kind. There is no telling what he could do. Let alone knows about."
Clant came running up, eyes wide, "Where's Arsen? What happened?!"
"He took off. Help me take care of Jagger; He was attacked. Come, Clant," Shadow ordered, walking through the door inside, Clant on his heels, Jirou not far behind.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Fayverent slid they heavy latch open on the door for the room Justin was in.
"I'll bring you something, Sir." She spoke softly, still trying to comprehend what had just happened, "Would... they be anything that you'd prefer?"

Gwen had come to Crimson Moon out of curiosity, a treaty between these cities would never work. And now here she was hiding in a dark corner as usual, watching a brawl take place. She didn't mean to listen to the snippets but the anger was palpable. Something about "keep your hands off my wife!" It reminded her of the small village near where she lived as a child.
If the inhabitants in this city can't even get along with each other, how could they expect to get along with the other cities of vampires, werewolves, demons, etc....
Gwen shock her head and sank back into the shadow.

As the door eased open Justin looked over his shoulder, the moonlight casting his shadow onto the stone floor. The girl who slipped into the room was the Wolf from below, her mind obviously elsewhere as she looking longingly back into the stairwell and sighed.
When she asked him what he would like he could not contain the sigh that huffed from his throat. He tried to force the change, or at least reclaim his voice; but it wouldn't work. He paused a moment, gave himself a shake, then tried again. An irritated whine whistled from his throat.
He jumped from the chaise to the floor, alarm beginning to blossom in his chest. He glanced back at the window, the moon a beacon in the dark. He sighed and penned it down as a side effect.
Instead of trying to convey anything vocally he tried to connect mentally, thinking two words only.
Steak, rare.

She smiled at him, "All right. I'll get it for you."
And paced back down the stairs.

Shadow whistled at the burnt flesh down Jagger's side.
"That smells painful.... Clant, get me some water and rags. We have to cool this down."
As soon as the orders were made, Clant and the rest of the maids started to scurry about, following commands.

Justin watched her until she was out of his sight, leaving the door ajar behind her. Gingerly he padded over and nudged it with his nose.
He was tall for a wolf, his head easily at the height of a man's hip. He looked down the now daunting, steep, stairwell; he never liked having his head lower than his tail. He warily began down the steps, trying not to trip over his nose as he watched his step. When he reached midway he could hear voices, anger and course. He glanced ahead, then back and decided retreat was the better part of valor for the moment.

"How could Arsen actually do that?" Jirou hissed as he cornered Clant.
"I don't know. Arsen is older than we knoow. He could very easily be the first of our kind, you know."
"But that power..."
"Who knows what he can do?" Clant muttered.
"He has to be put on trial, Clant."
"No, he can't."
"Why not?"
"Look," Clant turned to the older man, "Saiya has always loved him. He's the one who helped him learn again. You can't stop her from seeing him."
"But she's..."
"She's never loved you, Sir. Sorry to say it, but she'd die for Arsen. She'd die if he did. You kill him, you're killing her."

Justin sat with his fore paws resting on the step below him, his haunches on the landing. THe conversation beneath him was intriguing.
So the queen had no love for the king, but was carrying his child. And Arsen was the true love of the queen, but would probably go down on attempted murder, if the king said so. But if the king did that, bye-bye wifey and heir. Hmmm.
The king was stuck between an angry mob and the police. One was the peoples' choice, the other the law. He couldn't win.
For once in his life Justin was thankful that he had no voice with which to speak, as he would have felt the need to inform the King to take the stick out of his ass and get a divorce, share custody of the kid, and let peace come across the land. Lord knows that would be the best thing for all around, but it never seemed to work that Kings may actually consider what might be best for their people over what would please them most.
Instead he yawned and considered going back for a nap. His metabolism in this state was off the charts, and having had no supper, nor lunch, he was burning through reserve energy like a fire through matches.

Clant glared, "You don't belong here, Sir. Arsen doesn't belong here either. he deserves to know about himself. You're stopping him."
"How?"
"Saiya got him to remember how to talk, How to start remembering. He's slowly loosing himself everyday because she's gone. Since she left Arsen's been... different. its not surprise that he tried to attack you. And now he's lost his sanity. he'll kill everyone. And only Saiya can stop it."
"No."
"What!?"
"That thing is NOT Going near her," With that, Jirou stode away from the small boy.

Justin shook his head.
In a way, he couldn't really blame the king, if he were in His position... well, he probably wouldn't want a crazy vampire near his pregnant wife either.
At the thought a pang hit him in the gut, and his head drooped a notch. A small whine slipped out before he could catch it. Quickly he scrambled back into the tower room and, after jumping back onto the chaise, he held his breath to see if he was noticed.

Clant shook his head, "Damn Bastard. You won't trust that man, will you? She could very well save all of us."
"E-Excuse me," Fayverent brushed past him.
""Arsen let a wolf in a gain, didn't he?" Clant grinned. Fayverent nodded, and hurried up the stairs.
She set the plate on the floor, "Here you go." She smiled gently, "If you need anything, I'm pretty sure you know how to find me."

When he'd heard someone coming up the stairs, Justin's entire body had froze, only his nose moving as he inhaled deeply, trying to catch a scent. When the smell of wolf had hit his nose sigh had eased from his tense throat and a doggy grin had split his face.
He'd barked a thank-you at her as she placed the plate on the floor, the smell of steak causing his tongue to loll and his mouth to water. He winced as a drop of drool hit the floor. He'd looked up at her gratefully as he took the steak in his mouth, his ears forward and eyes bright.

Fayverent sighed, sitting on the floor by the door, nowhere near his food to seem like a threat.
"Its sad. I hear so much about whats going on... No one is supposed to know about me living here. And you obviously aren't from around here. You can call me Fay when your back to normal," She smiled at him, "Well, I don't feel all too alone know."

The steak was slippery and chewy all at once; perfect.
He stopped eating for a moment as the girl spoke, and looked at her with compassionate eyes. He ached to say something to her, but the moon held him in her thrawl, and he could do nothing. Instead he softly padded over to where she sat and gave her a nudge on the cheek with his nose, his ears flicking back and forth in concern.
it seemed strange to him that no one was to know of her living here; had things changed so much over the years since he had visited. When he had last been here the court had seemed open and welcoming to those who visited. Maybe it had all been for appearances.

Justin groaned and leaned into the touch. He wanted to tell her she could stay here if she liked, it wasn't like he could do anything in this form that would cross the lines of decency. But it wasn't his place. Instead nuzzled her again, and went bac to his steak.
One thing about being a wolf, it made life so much simpler to not be involved in all the disputes of humans. He could sit on the sidelines and watch; except he wasn't a wolf. He shook his head at the turn of his thoughts.
He looked at her, his head down toward his steak, his ears forward, and his eyes resolute.
Stay.

She smiled, "All right. No one will mind anyway. Arsen's the one whos supposed to look after me, but, considering the circumstances..." She shrugged, "No one will miss me anyway."
She sighed, stretching, "Its oddly quiet for being around here. Something like this rarely happenes. And Jagger's hurt this time too... That can only mean something bad will happen soon."

Justin listened, contently chewing his supper. He was oddly peaceful, lying here not far from her, sawing through tendon with his molars.
Your king is selfish. He spoke the words quietly in his mind, sure now that she could hear him, like Pollynda could at home. The queen will pass her sadness and dislike into the child. He should have let her find love and found himself another brood mare. He lapped at the blood that had pooled on his plate. I think Arsen will come here after visiting his queen. He needs somewhere to collect his thoughts. He nodded to himself as much as her, then picked up his steak and shook it gently before gnawing on it again.

"You're probably right... But... I still don't understand why Saiya. I know why Arsen chose her. She helped regain himslef, as you probably heard. After Jagger thought he was asne enough, he let Saiya work as the book keeper in the castle... Arsen always talks about her though. He misses her and tries not to show it... I haven't been here long enough to know what went on speciffically--not like Shadow at least," She sighed, "I just hear what the other maids say, and the men here. They try to stay away from me, but wolf hearing does come in handy from time to time."

Justin snorted, laughter alighting in his eyes as he finished off the meat.
It comes in more than a handy, things damn useful. He licked the plate clean then sighed in contentment. He sat up slowly, then leaned back on his haunches until his spine straightened with his forelegs off the ground, head back and a groan issuing from his throat. He then stood up and move over to beside Fay and curled up beside her, resting his head on her lap and closing his eyes. His internal clock was telling him that now he'd fed it was time to rest, to let his body regain some of its energy.
I think when everyone has calmed down I may go wandering... would you join me? His eyes opened and he looked up at her. Of corse I can understand if you would rather stay here...

She smiled, rubbing his head, "I'll go with you. Some company is nice to have around here. I'll have to stay like this. I'm not allowed to change to my fur. Jagger and Arsen strongly discourage it."
She sighed, "It is Hard to resist though..." She shook her head, "And the moon here makes it even more irresistable. The red color... I just love it. Kinda reminds me of my family."

He didn't want to intrude, but couldn't help the tilt that came to his neck, the questioning look in his eyes.
He waited a moment, then before she could say anything continued on.
I'm not so easily controlled by the moon. He looked over at the window, then back at her. Something... strange is happening to me lately. I'm not.. it's like when I first changed, the very first time. I used to have such control over it now... now I'm stuck like this. He sighed and let his head drop.

She giggled, scratching his ears, "It happens from time to time. Ask Shadow. its happened to him before. Even at 500 years, it still happens to him. Besides that, It must be a little nice. I can't do anything about me. Arsen and Clant put some kind of spell on me or something to prevent it," She sighed, "You have the better bet here. I'm just a maid that they want to keep secret."
