I've just gotten back from the movies not too long ago, and after seeing both "I Am Legend" and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets", I decided to give my review of the first movie. No spoilers, though!
Here's the summary from the IMDB page:
"Robert Neville was a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague -- The Infected -- lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time."
Okay, so there's the movie in a nutshell - now do you want to know what I think? And yes, this is related to vampires, because in the novel form of "I Am Legend", the 'Dark Seekers' are actually vampires - though they look like zombies to me!
Well, the entire movie was filled with SO much suspense, I thought my heart stopped at a few parts. It's the entire thing about the camera angle, too. Inside you're screaming, "DON'T DO THAT!" - but Neville does, and it scares you witless. Once you see the "Dark Seekers", aka vampire/zombie beings, then it's not so scary. But in the beginning, it's horrible to sit there and wait for them to appear; but once they do, it's very creepy.
The movie...there were parts that I did cry, and there's a load of them at the end of the film. You'll know which parts I mean, if you see it/have seen it. It also makes you think, about the world today, and just how far we will go with our advances in science & technology. The whole thing was chilling, and I guarantee that you will be silent for a good portion of the time afterwards. There were some plot holes, and it does raise some interesting questions; but overall "I Am Legend" was a great way to end the year.
Thoughts?
(And now I'm all creeped out by writing about this, and thinking of the infected humans - it's night where I live, and it's just...It's not the best. My cure? Listening to music you love - it keeps your mind mostly off of horrible, infected beings who want to kill you at night). xD
