Watch the trailer HEREPremiers on Netflix on April 19, 2013 Plot A young girl is brutally murdered and found near the former Godfrey steel mill. As rumours mount, two of the suspects in her killing, Peter Rumancek, a 17-year-old Gypsy trailer trash kid rumoured to be a werewolf, and Roman, the heir to the Godfrey estate, decide to find the killer themselves. - Wikipedia The show is based on the novel Hemlock Grove by Brain McGreevy. From the trailer it looks pretty epic and I will surely be hitting up a friend with Netflix and living on their couch for the 13 hours it takes me to make it through the first season. All the episodes will be released on Netflix at the same time. I will post my thoughts on the series after I watch them. But feel free to tell me what you think of the trailer in the mean time.

you're gonna hate me but i started watching this last night after reading this thread, and continued after waking up at 8am this morning and unable to get back to sleep. i am already on episode 9. there is a lot of sex and vomit and everybody drinks jack daniels. the main guy is played by Alexander Skarsgard's (Eric Northman from True Blood's)younger brother, and boy can you tell! it's actually pretty decent so far, nowhere near as ridiculous and repetitive as Vampire Diaries, but we'll see if that's still true in a few more seasons. the plot however is moving along fairly slowly. in episode 9 none of the problems and mysteries from episode 1 are even close to being resolved! but i will def still keep watching. the characters are dirty and attractive enough, and can pass for highschool students even

Let me just start by saying: if there is a second season of Hemlock Grove, I will be excited to watch it. There isn't a whole lot of good things I could say about the series. Yes, it had a fairly attractive cast. And it is really cool how it has its own take on supernatural characters. I liked how it didn't really stray from the plot, or delve too deep into it too fast. It had the same kind of slow, natural pace that HBO shows have.
What I disliked about the show is some of the things that have been noted in other reviews I've read. The dialogue is pretty subpar in parts and delivered with little interest or enthusiasm. The acting isn't always great, but then there isn't a lot opportunity for standout performances. All of that I can ignore for the bigger picture of the series, but Famke Janssen wearing only white clothes for all 13 episodes drove me nuts.
After watching the entire series I was left with more questions than answers, which was vexing. Could be that it's a ploy to get viewers to stay for a second season. Or maybe get more interest in the book it was based on. Either way, I was looking for an explanation for the weird in the show and was disappointed.
It was an interesting show to watch to be sure. Definitely worth the hassle of setting up a free trial of Netflix. I'm hoping that there will be a second season, but as of yet there hasn't been any news.
