Ya i know I know this is a typical vampire book but its a classic like no other. Now what does everyone think of it and if you have read it some in depth love into it???

I found it overwritten and rather dull actually.
Other than as an introduction to the vampire myth I find it unsatisfying. Although I did enjoy the feminism of Mina.
I felt the men were rather romanticised, and in that respect unreal. I did like that Mina and Johnathan named thir kid after Quincey; Quincey was my favourite.

I have never been able to make it more than half way through the book. I love classic novels, but I find that Dracula is just too slow and filled with useless pieces of dialogue to hold my attention.

It would have made a better story I find if it wasn't written through letters and diaries. I see what Bram was trying to do, trying to make it seem more real but I don't really think he put much of a fear or personality into each of the different characters. it was more like "O this has happened, why is this happening" sort of thing. The movie (the newer and older one) was good, based on the book but again didn't have much in depth into Dracula himself or his 3 wives

I found that the 3 wives played more parts in the movies than the novel. Their interaction in the book was brief and left you wondering about their stories.
Someone could write their stories as an extension of the book... hopefully with a better writing style.

I read the book last summer as part of a guild thing. I didn't absolutely love it, but I think with some buffering it could have been nice. And by buffering I mean replacing some of the thinking and talking and planning with some verbs.

Compared to some of the other "classics" written in that era, it's fast paced.
