He's not the most popular author in the world, but I'd love to know what you think of him. He's very into mythology and representing things of old myths in modern day. Interesting style, very hard to explain. Also great movies have been made from his books.
Here is a list of some of his books (I hope to read more of them): American Gods The Anansi Boys Wolves in the Walls (I give it a 5/5) Mirrormask (Movie is a 5/5, haven't located the book anywhere) Neverwhere (Movie 5/5, haven't yet read it) Coraline (6/5, creepy as heck) Good Omens with Terry Pratchett (Meh, 3/5, a bit slow)

hmm. well i havent read/seen any of those, but i do have a copy of the 1994 Vertigo graphic novel Death: The High Cost of Living, which was written by Neil Gaiman. it is absolutely beautiful! i love the characters, and the plotline. it is extremely original (as far as i can tell), and it is a good mix of creepy, sweet, harsh, sad and just a pinch of gothic romanticism. there is even supposedly a movie in the works for Death: The High Cost of Living, with Gaiman writing the screenplay and directing it. im excited

gaiman does awesome screenplay, but I hadn't really heard of his graphic novels. Upon looking on Amazon, it seems he has quite a few, and they're farely popular. ;D

today i read another graphic novel by neil gaiman. The Last Temptation. it's based upon a story by neil gaiman and alice cooper. it's awesome! the main character is this crazy ghostly theatre master, the appearance of which looks just like alice cooper. he even has the hair and make-up, and wears a top hat. its about a young boy named steven who is sort of coming of age/trying to define himself among his friends. well he sees a bizarre theatre entrance in an alley-way and goes in after much convincing from the alice-theatre master-cooper, who then tries to convince steven to join his theatre cast of the dead, telling him that he'll never grow old, miserable, and bored and die. it has what i think of as neil gaiman's style and edge. and i love the guy based on alice cooper. he's so creepy but at the same time seems kinda down to earth.
it's (c) 1994, 1995, 2000. published by dark horse comics.
